Purpose: To enable every adult learner in Georgia to acquire the necessary basic skills-reading, writing, computation, speaking, and listening to compete successfully in today’s workplace, strengthen family foundations, and exercise full citizenship.
Services Provided: GED preparation, COMPASS/ASSET Remediation, Adult Basic Education, Beginning Reading for non-readers, English As a Second Language classes for those with Limited English Proficiency, reader tutor training.
Eligibility: Must be 16 years or older for classes. Classes are free; GED test is $95.00 for the initial battery test.

Purpose: Provides supportive services for students and potential students who are single parents, displaced homemakers, students in nontraditional programs/careers, and those with Limited English Proficiency, helping them to achieve their educational and career goals.
Services Offered: Information and advice on getting started as a student at Augusta Tech; computer lab for study or use of software, including CPEA to prepare for Compass Placement or Exit tests; information about nontraditional careers; Lending Library textbooks for low-income students without sufficient Financial Aid; assessment of personal interests and aptitude; information on parenting skills, developing workplace skills, money management, and other issues.

Purpose: A family literacy program that provides sufficient intensity and duration for adults to make sustainable progress in reaching their educational goals and life expectations. Eligibility for Even Start requires that a person must live in Burke County, be a parent of a child 6 weeks to four years old and need to complete a GED. There is no cost for the program and transportation is provided. Parenting education and transition to the work place are provided. Children receive free education that includes language and literacy, motor skills, social and emotional development and problem solving. Parents interact with children to enjoy simple games, books and toys to reinforce weekly themes. Classes help at Burke County Alternate School.
