OPERATION PENTECOST
A Testimony of Faith!
“Unless the Lord builds the house, they labor in vain who build it”. – Psalm 127:1
This exercise of faith is a call to members of the Augusta-Sparta District to trust God for a vision of a multi-purpose worship center which is to be built on the site of Jones Chapel CME Church (currently inactive). The word “Operation” denotes that it is a work in progress, started and completed by those who have faith that God will honor work designed by people of faith to please Him. This work is expected to be done by VOLUNTEERS who will commit their time, talents and resource$ to complete and dedicate the building to the glory of God for use throughout the district.
In telling Moses to collect for the Tabernacle, God said,
“tell the sons of Israel to raise a contribution for Me; from every man whose heart moves him you shall raise my contribution”. Exodus 25:1-2.
The goal is for every member of the district to contribute $50.00 toward this operation or 50 hours of work for skilled labor toward its completion. Those who cannot save $50.00 are asked to give $12.00 or more in increments of $5.00.
- Mr. Lee Fulbright who owns property next to the site donated $2500 toward the project as a commitment to assist in completing this plan. All monetary donations should be made payable to the Augusta-Sparta District c/o Operation Pentecost.
- A separate account has been established for this project to assure accountability and asset visibility. Donors will receive a receipt for cash or checks for tax purposes as requested.
- This operation is largely conducted by the Laity of the district with some assistance possibly provided by other districts that are standing by to see if there is a commitment to it. A well (water source) has been installed on the site and plans are to move forward with the land clearing and initial phases of construction.
- Brothers Elijah Holley, Eddie Furse, Rickey Jones, Thomas Clark, Gregory Roberts, and other Laypeople are engaged in developing the complete plans for this construction while moving forward with things that we can do with little financing. We solicit your prayers and support as we move forward in the name of Jesus Christ with Operation Pentecost.
Yours in Christ,
Willie J. Wiley – Presiding Elder, Elijah Holley – Planning Committee, Eddie Furse – Co Chair
